An assessment of current governance of the Channel
This action aimed to clarify the existing and forthcoming marine and coastal
governance including all the processes, organisations, institutions and
instruments with an influence over how the marine ecosystem of the English
Channel is used and managed. This review helped to identify where the best
practice drawn from the contributing INTERREG IVa projects can be used to
improve the governance framework and policy in the English Channel.
Inputs to the diagrams came from the project team, participants at the Cross
Channel Forums and other workshops and detailed interview on both sides
of the Channel. The final products available below show the international,
European and National governance instruments and instruments and fully
demonstrate the complexity of the current governance mechanisms.
